New Beginnings
Default Brower

I am looking for information on those who use FF3 as there main browser.  I use FF3 almost exclusively except for the sites that do not render in FF3 correctly.  I need help in deciding which browser to use as my default browser.  Especially since some sites need to use IE7 but load in FF3 as default.

Thanks for the tip on IE Tab. My FF3 (default browser) is now displaying my AT&T Yahoo Homepage correctly.

Well damn. AutoCopy Version HistoryThe most recent version compatible with Firefox (3.0.1)Version 0.8 — April 28, 2008 — 64 KBBut every time i try to install it it tells me it's incompatible

You need to register on the site, and install the experimental 0.91 version or whatever it is. That one works for me.

Just recently Hotmail is coming to recognize FF3 as a browser.  I still get some random 'use these 3 browsers since you aren't using a recognized one', even though the FF link they send you to has 3.0 lol.  For thelongest time, FF3 and Hotmail full version weren't working, microsoft actually was blocking any unrecognized browser from full version.  When contacted, they said that they were resolving the issues with mozilla and things should work by the next live.hotmail software update 'later this year'.

Gah what gave you that idea? The last time I used Opera was like.....5 years ago and it still had ads on it,  yuck.

Bebi what a great list of add-ons. I really appreciate the link.

Addons I'd add to the list provided by Bebi Bulma include:

NoScript - sort of does to undesired java, flash, silverlight, et al., what AdBlock Plus does to 3rd party site ads.

Adblock Plus: Element Hiding Helper - an addon to the AdBlock Plus addon (same author).. lets you select specific page elements to block, including text-based ads that otherwise fall through AdBlock Plus.

NoScript in particular is a must-have, imo.

I've a few other browser security related addons, but they tend to be more "twiddly" in their configuration requirements and would really only suit the truly paranoid tin-foil hat brigade members (such as myself).

Welll.....maybe it was your reply on my post about how to speed up FF3:

"I used that like, 3 years ago."

The advance of Trace Monkey promises some significant improvement and edge for FF. You might find the attached of interest.

I have been using FF for a few years now. Once I got the hang of it I just couldnt see myself going back to EI unless necessary and with IE add-on for FF, I hardly come across any reason.

I love the tabs, the multitue of add-ons that can do just about anything and everything and basically many of the great features such as saving the last tabs before closing, recovery of the last tabs if the system (or FF) crashes, much more secure than EI, hardly an pop-ups; the features are endless almost.

I have a nice set of add-ons that make my more than satisfied. Best of all, I am able to use FF3 at work with the portable version on my portable apps software installed on my Western Digital 250 GB Passport. All my music, some of my videos and software and access to all of it with the portable software on it.
