My Granddaughter needs prayer

I was gone the month of April to Ft Campbell, KY as my daughter was having a new baby. Stormie Sky was born on April 19. A preemie at 6.9 lbs, a joy to behold. After I returned home my daughter, Kristina noticed Stormie had a Petechiae/Angioma above one of her eyes. This is a red mark where a blood vessel has been broken and normally is not serious.

Last week Stormie became ill with a fever and a green discharge from the eye with the Petechiae. At the doctors office bad news fell hard upon our hearts. Stormie has a heart murmur diagnosed by two different doctors. She needs further testing...EKG, Xrays to determine the cause which I think will be done sometime next week. And that alone is great cause for concern. Upon further examination of her eye the Petechiace is an Angioma which means there is a bump on the inside of the eyelid resting upon her eye. Kristina is taking Stormie to an eye specialist in Nashville TN on Monday.

My daughter is alone with four other childern to care for; besides running the entire household by herself. Joe is serving in Iraq. He did get RR for 18 days and was home when Stormie was born. Which was a huge blessing for our family.

It is not possible for me to go back to Ky now...so I ask that this great community to come together to pray for Kristina to have the strength to endure whatever may come...whatever she must do. I especially ask for prayer for Stormie. She may be small but, she is strong. She eats well and continues to gain weight. So I hope that she will live up to her name and storms through to a full recovery. I will report undates on her health soon as we know anything further.

My little boy Mark says Hi! and he says he will say a little prayer for Stormie tonight before he goes to bed.Thank You Leo and A big hug to your adorable Mark. Your comment brought tears to my eyes, I was so touched.

Your daughter and granddaughter are in my thoughts and I pray for the best possible outcome for them both...

About 27 years ago my now ex-wife walked out of the hospital the day after my daughter was born 3 months premature and weighing under 3lbs.... thus leaving me to raise her and my 4 year old son on my own, which I did without question. My daughter, Romana (named after a Doctor Who character), suffered with respiratory and digestive issues for the first year or so and I frequently had her at the doctors, so yes, I know what it's like to have an unwell baby on your hands and I sincerely hope/pray that all turns out most excellently for your loved ones as well...

My daughter is now 27 and is as strong as an ox - physically, mentally and emotionally - and has two wonderful children of her own... and like me, she refuses to feed her kids any of that tinned baby food muck... nope, it's all fresh food (what she and dad eat) and pureed in a blender to the appropriate consistency.

I write to you now with a heavy heart. I just spoke to Kristina; she just returned from seeing the eye specialist. The angioma is serious, as it can grow not only bigger under her eyelid but also grows backwards behind the eye. He is going to have an MRI done the 19th to see how big the growth is and how far back behind the eye it goes. Kristina has to keep a close watch on Stormie to make sure she opens the affected eye everyday. Kristina told him she barely opens it now. The doctor said that is fine; even opening it a little bit sends the message to her brain that the eye is functioning. The option for treatment is steroid injections directly into the eye. Surgery is not an option since there are so many blood vessels behind the eye that bleeding cannot be controlled.

The EKG done on her heart came back and Stormie has to see a cardioloist. Kristina awaits to know if there is one on base or if she will be referred to a doctor in Nashville.

I will give updates as Kristina gives them to me.

sir starkers, thank you for sharing your own special story about Romana. Every story I hear about a child who is born into our world with ill health and has a wonderful out come gives increasing strength and more hope for my Stormie.

I am only too happy to share my positive story of Romana with you and am pleased it has helped in some small way. It may have been a difficult road to begin with, but for every difficulty we confronted together back then, we have shared many, many more great and wonderful moments because she was/is a fighter and never gave up.

Despite their obvious frailties, babies are quite resilient and often much stronger than we can imagine, and I'm sure this is so for your Stormie, with lots of positive vibes from everyone here, and oodles of TLC from all those who love her.

Skybright, I have just told Colin the latest news that you have posted and he has spoken to "God" this morning in a prayer and he has committed himself to an extra prayer, to be said each morning prior to leaving for school, in the hopes that it helps Stormie and her family though this difficult time. (He didn't think that him only saying one prayer before bed was enough

).

Please take heart that everyone in my small part of the world is rooting for you and your family.
